Barium
Ba, 99%, 99.5%, 99.97% pure
Pieces, Pellets and Sputtering Targets
Barium is a soft, silvery metallic metal with the symbol Ba and atomic number 56.
Barium, in its pure form, is not found in nature due to the high reactivity with air.
Barium oxidizes easily with water and carbon dioxide and is highly reactive with water and alcohol, producing hydrogen gas.
Barium laboratory uses include evaporation during a deposition process. Barium has few industrial uses, historically is was used as a getter for vacuum tubes and currently is used in electro-ceramics, added to steel and cast iron to reduce the size of carbon grains within the microstructure.
