Di-(2-Propyl Heptyl) Phthalate
Di(2-Propyl Heptyl) phthalate is a phthalate ester plasticizer based on isomeric C10 alcohols.
It offers flexible PVC compounders higher powder bulk density, which can enhance extrusion rates and the lower efficiency and lower density of this plasticizer are said to result in lower cost per cubic meter.
Its weather resistance makes it a strong candidate for outdoor applications. DPHP boasts better UV stability than most general-purpose plasticizers, making it especially suitable for applications like roofing, geomembranes, or tarpaulins. Color stability and aging performance are particularly good.
DPHP is often used as an alternative to diisodecyl phthalate (DIDP) because only minor compound changes are needed to adapt wire formulations for example to DPHP. It similarly matches DIDP performance in automotive applications.
