Scandium Oxide
Sc2O3
Purity: 99.995%, 99.999%, 99.9996%
Form: This material is supplied in Powder, Sintered Pieces, Pellets and as Sputter Targets.
Applications: Scandium Oxide produces an excellent high index film layer that is transparent to wavelengths as short as 225 nm (in the UV region). The Sc2O3 film is insoluble and hard. This film requires an electron-beam source to reach evaporation temperature.
Amorphous films can be deposited below 150oC substrate temperature. The high index value, layer hardness and transparency make this product suitable for the high index component of UV, AR and bandpass coatings. High damage thresholds, in combination with Silicon Dioxide or Magnesium Fluoride, have been reported for use in AR, Beamsplitters and for Bandpass Coatings at 248 nm and at 351 nm.
