Zirconium Dioxide
ZrO2
99.99% % pure
Form: This material is supplied as 1 - 4 mm sintered granules.
Applications: ZrO2 is a high index, low absorption material used for coatings in the near-UV to IR regions (300 nm - ~8 microns). Dense layers with exceptional hardness can be deposited by e-beam evaporation or sputtering. Typical applications include bear-UV laser AR, dielectric mirror designs, multi-layer coatings for laser mirrors (combining ZrO2 and SiO2), and beam-splitter AR coatings (combining ZrO2 with Al2O3 and MgF2). Zirconia is among the oxide compounds whose tendency for inhomogeneous index gradients can be reduced by the introduction of foreign oxides. By introducing titanium oxide, silicon dioxide, magnesium oxide and other oxides Zirconia thin film properties are enhanced.
