Aluminum Scandium Master Alloys
AlSc2, 99.99% pure minimum
Aluminum Scandium alloy is a high performance 2% Scandium added to Aluminum alloy which refines the alloy grain refinement during casting and solidification. This Scandium addition raises the recrystallization temperature of the alloy to improve the strength and toughness. This also improves the weld ability while minimizing the hot cracking of welds.
Aluminum (98 wt%) / Scandium (2.0 wt% (+/- 0.1 wt%))
Purity: 99.99% pure minimum
Produced by Vacuum Melting
Supplied as Ingot, irregular lump, disk or as finished Sputtering Targets
The addition of Scandium to Aluminum has the following benefits:
· Supports the alloy grain refinement during casting and solidification.
· Increases the recrystallization of heat-treatable aluminum alloys during hot working.
· Improves the weldability of aluminum alloys while minimizing hot cracking of welds.
· Improves heat resistance, corrosion resistance and thermal stability of the aluminum alloy.
· Improves the resistance to neutron irradiation injury of the aluminum alloy.
Typical application areas:
1. Aircraft and aerospace
2. Weaponry and handguns and using high-performance aluminum structural materials
3. Golf clubs, baseball bats and bicycle frames
4. Other new generation demanding applications
